Adeja Sterling

Adeja Sterling (she/they) has worked closely with the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Stephanie Heydt the Margaret and Terry Stent Curator of American Art, over the past two years. Executing curatorial projects such as “Out of the Shadows: Woman Modernists in the High’s Collection,” “Benny Andrews: Revival,” and “Martin Puryear: Fascinating Forms” Adeja has spearheaded rotation project in both the American and contemporary art departments. She has also been a research assistant for many upcoming and past curatorial endeavors for Dr. Heydt, creating didactic texts and finding archival materials key to the American Department’s curatorial projects.
Adeja has recently graduated from Emory University with a BA in Art History. After her fellowship at the High ends, she will be continuing on to New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts as the Harriet Griffin Fellow to pursue a MA in Art History with a concentration in Curatorial Studies.
