Grace Tran (she/her) graduated from Cornell University in May 2022 with a double major in Art History and the College Scholar Program, through which she independently studied Museums and Social Issues. She wrote her undergraduate thesis on institutional problems within art museums in the United States and will be attending Penn State University in the fall for her MA in Art History. In her graduate work, she will explore contemporary art of the Asian diaspora, with a current focus on relationships between trauma, identity, and creative production. Grace strives to develop a curatorial practice which emphasizes unheard stories, de-centers colonial voices, and promotes community engagement. This spring, she was the recipient of the Alumni Distinguished Leadership Award from the Cornell Art History Department and the Jerilea Zempel Award from the Penn State Art History Department. Before coming to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, she was the Asian Art and Morgan Garden intern at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art. At the PMA, she has been working under the supervision of Peter Barberie, The Brodsky Curator of Photographs, Alfred Stieglitz Center.
