The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

London Williams is a fellow at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and a 2021 graduate from the Kansas City Art Institute. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he plans to pursue his MFA at Carnegie Mellon in the fall as a Regina and Marlin Miller Master of Fine Arts Fellow. While in Kansas City, Williams has exhibited his work at Haw Contemporary, Leedy-Voulkos Art Center, and the H&R Block Art Space. During his fellowship, Williams has conducted research on various pieces in the Nelson-Atkins historical photography collection. Specifically, he produced content for a Google Arts and Culture feature on Deana Lawson’s Ring Bearer (2016). In it, Williams highlighted the radical use of photography in the hands of black folk while also diving into the importance of the domestic interior as a site of resistance. Williams is currently working on completing an oral history interview with Anthony Barboza.
