Alissa Roach (she/her) (b. Kingston, Jamaica) is an interdisciplinary artist and recent graduate from Temple University with a BFA in Sculpture and a minor in Art History. Her studio practice and research interests lie within the intersection of time-based media archives, decolonization, globalization, and unspoken histories. Roach has explored many avenues of experience in Philadelphia, including painting on several walls with Mural Arts, turning a local white-cube gallery into a pop-up rave, and serving as a mentor for students of color within the Artists of Color Collective. Her work has been shown in numerous galleries in the city, most recently in Fleisher Art Memorial’s Dialogo 365: New Rhizomes which will open in the fall.

As her fellowship comes to a close, she hopes to continue personal research and working within the grassroots arts community in Philadelphia. Roach’s curatorial mentors have been Erica Battle, The John Alchin and Hal Marryatt Curator of Contemporary Art, and Alison Tufano, Collections Assistant in the Contemporary Art Department.
