Nyaradzai Mahachi (she/her) (b. Harare, Zimbabwe) is a senior at Auburn University at Montgomery pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, a certificate in museum studies, and a minor in anthropology. She has broad research interests in the history of African Art and the visual culture of the African diaspora. Beyond her coursework, Mahachi has held internships with the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A painter, she maintains an active studio practice, and her work has been exhibited in the 43rd and 44th Montgomery Art Guild Museum exhibition and the 21 Dreams Arts and Culture exhibitions in Montgomery, Alabama. Mahachi's mentor  Lauren Tate Baeza, Fred and Rita Richman Curator of African Art. As a fellow, Mahachi curated a photography installation using  the High Museum of Art’s civil rights photography collection, conducted research on Fon appliqué textiles,  and co-curated: Off the Grid with Katherine Jentleson the Merrie and Dan Boone Curator of Folk & Self-Taught Art, Nailah Barnes and Sojourner Hunt.
